Hobart and William Smith Colleges will once again host the biannual Half the World Symposium on Asian Environments May 30-31, 2014 in Geneva, New York. The symposium is part of our ongoing Asian Environmental Studies initiative, funded generously by a grant from the Henry Luce Foundation. Sponsors welcome proposals for presentations covering any aspect of human-environment relations in Asia, from literature to limnology, curriculum to karsts.

Please send abstracts of 200 words or fewer to magee@hws.edu prior to April 15. Presenters may wish to submit full papers for consideration for publication in ASIANetwork Exchange.

Sponsors have been thrilled with the success of past symposia in fostering conversations at the intersection of Asian Studies and Environmental Studies. This year’s keynote speaker is Charles Krusekopf, Founder and Executive Director of the American Center for Mongolian Studies (ACMS). Dr. Krusekopf currently serves as Director of the School of Business at Royal Roads University in Victoria, British Columbia.
