JOB – Assoc. Prof. of Environmental Philosophy, Director of Environmental Studies

Merrimack College invites applications for a tenure-track Associate Professor of Philosophy and Director of the Environmental Studies and Sustainability Program beginning fall 2014.

Multidisciplinary and intercultural perspectives are preferred. Applicants should have taught at the assistant professor level for 3-5 years and have a PhD by time of appointment. 4 courses/year, 3 in Philosophy (including Introduction to Philosophy) and 1ESS Gateway course.  Other duties include advising majors and minors in the ESS program, advising the student-run Green Team, serving on the Merrimack Sustainability Committee, and planning co-curricular events and activities.

Environmental Studies and Sustainability at Merrimack is a three-year old, innovative program that offers students both major and minor options with tracks that include courses from the Schools of Business, Liberal Arts, and Science and Engineering.  Merrimack is a private college located 25 miles north of Boston, MA, USA.  The Philosophy Program and the Environmental Studies and Sustainability Program are integrally linked to the ideals of experiential education, sustainability, and social justice as set forth in Merrimack College’s Agenda for Distinction.
