Successful applicants will focus on questions of global justice, intergenerational justice and environmental ethics and work in close cooperation with other researchers at the Integrative Research Institute on Transformations of Human-Environment Systems (IRI THESys). Thus he/she may tackle topics such as climate justice (intra- and intergenerational), ethical perspectives on economics, the ethics of land use and food production, and further ethical issues of global change.

Applicants are encouraged to demonstrate how they will develop strong links between philosophy and economics.

Requirements

humboldt-university-of-berlinCandidates shall hold an outstanding doctoral degree and have an excellent research record in philosophy.  A strong interest in sustainability science and global environmental change research is expected.  Successful applicants will have proven their ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment.  Excellent command of English, good communication skills, and willingness to integrate themselves into an international research environment are mandatory.  Teaching experience is an asset.

Applicants must meet the legal requirements for an assistant professor (German: Junior professor) as stipulated in § 102a of the “Berliner Hochschulgesetz.”  Depending on the qualification and research focus of the successful candidate, up to 1.5 researcher positions at doctoral or post-doctoral level may be granted in order to establish a Junior Research Group (with the assistant professor as the group leader).
