Faculty Position: Lecturer with Potential Security of Employment
The Department of Philosophy within the University of California, San Diego is committed to academic excellence and diversity within the faculty, staff and student body and is pleased to announce a search for the position of Lecturer with Potential Security of Employment in Philosophy. The L(P)SOE series has been created for faculty members whose expertise and responsibilities center on undergraduate education and the scholarship of teaching and learning. It entails membership in the faculty Academic Senate and carries the potential for security of employment after a probationary period, but is distinct from a tenure-track assistant professor appointment. The appointment will begin on 7/1/13.
Candidate must have a Ph.D., a strong record of teaching, and the potential for contributions in scholarship or scholarly pedagogy. Candidates will be favored who have teaching expertise in normative and applied ethics, including (but not limited to) one or more of the following: biomedical ethics, environmental ethics, ethics and technology, business ethics, ethics and public policy.
Successful candidates will demonstrate strong or potential accomplishments in areas contributing to diversity, equity and inclusion, and a desire to play a leadership role in advancing UC San Diego’s commitment to achieving excellence and diversity. Proof of authorization to work in the U.S. will be required prior to employment (Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986). Salary is commensurate with qualifications and based on University of California pay scales.
