The College of Arts and Sciences of University of South Dakota is in the process of adding a sustainability major and invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty member to promote and grow a sustainability major at USD, teach courses within the program, and contribute to broader campus initiatives related to sustainability.
The successful candidate will possess a Ph.D. in a relevant field, along with demonstrated teaching and research interests in sustainability. Candidates from a variety of disciplines in the natural sciences, environmental sciences, and social sciences are encouraged to apply; however, preference will be given to candidates who hold a Ph.D. in Sustainability or have professional experience in a sustainability program. The major being designed is broadly interdisciplinary in nature, with both B.A. and B.S. options for students. We are open to various models of appointment, including a joint appointment or an appointment in a home department. Excellence in teaching is expected, both in the classroom and in mentoring students outside of the classroom.
