The University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire invites applications for a probationary tenure-track position in the interdisciplinary Watershed Institute for Collaborative Environmental Studies (WICES) at the rank of Assistant Professor (or higher rank) to begin August 22, 2011.
We seek an environmentally-minded colleague with a demonstrated ability to teach across disciplines, engage in scholarship including student/faculty collaborative research, and contribute to other collaborative, interdisciplinary activities across campus and the community. We welcome applications from candidates across the disciplines, including the social sciences, natural and physical sciences, humanities, professional studies, etc.; our primary expectation is for an environmental identity rather than a disciplinary one.
Requirements include a doctoral degree, a commitment to teaching excellence and an active research program. A demonstrated expertise in the general area of environmental law/policy/regulation will be considered an asset. We encourage applications from individuals who will bring diverse and inclusive experiences, pedagogies, and scholarship opportunities to the Institute and the broader campus community.
Responsibilities will include developing and teaching interdisciplinary courses in collaboration with other WICES faculty members, along with selected courses in the department most closely associated with the candidate’s training and experience. In addition, the candidate will contribute vision, leadership, service and enthusiasm to nurture, shape and advance the newly-created Institute’s lived and evolving mission.
